What is Selank?
Selank is a synthetic peptide based on tuftsin, a naturally occurring immune-modulating fragment. It was developed in Russia, where it has been studied and used for anxiety and stress-related conditions.
In the US it’s considered experimental, and its evidence base — while real — comes largely from Russian research that hasn’t been broadly replicated in Western trials.1
Benefits & what it’s studied for
Its primary studied use, as an anxiolytic without the sedation or dependence associated with benzodiazepines.
Studied for attention, memory, and mental clarity.
Investigated for effects on stress-related neurochemistry (e.g., BDNF). We grade it Emerging given limited Western replication.
How does Selank work?
Selank is thought to influence the balance of neurotransmitters and modulate BDNF and the expression of stress-related signaling, which is the proposed basis for its calming and cognitive effects. It can be administered intranasally given its peptide structure.4
Dosing & administration
Research describes intranasal administration.5
This is educational, not medical advice. We don’t publish dosing. Specific dosing should be determined by a licensed provider after evaluation.
Risks, side effects & safety
limited long-term safety data outside Russian studies. Reported effects are mild. As an experimental peptide, medical supervision is important.6
Legality & status
Selank is not FDA-approved and is not among the peptides addressed in the April 2026 Category 2 removals or the 2026–2027 PCAC dockets — it remains experimental in the US. Off Category 2 ≠ 503A-compoundable ≠ FDA-approved, and sourcing/quality vary widely. Confirm current status with a licensed provider.7 See the full picture in our legality explainer.
Regulatory status as of June 2026 — reconfirm against the live FDA 503A list before go-live.

Frequently asked questions
What is Selank used for?+
It’s studied mainly for anxiety, stress resilience, and cognitive support.
Is Selank FDA-approved?+
No. It’s experimental in the US; most of its clinical research comes from Russia.
How is Selank taken?+
Research describes intranasal administration, but dosing should be determined by a provider.
Is Selank addictive like anti-anxiety drugs?+
It’s studied as a non-sedating anxiolytic without the dependence profile of benzodiazepines, but human data is limited.
Selank vs Semax — what's the difference?+
Both are Russian-developed peptides; Selank skews toward anxiety/stress, Semax toward cognition/focus. Evidence for both is emerging.
